Yes…this one slipped past us. Paul Heil’s Award winning, syndicated Gospel Music radio program, “The Gospel Greats”, placed The Prophets Quartet in it’s Artist Spotlight segment during the week-end of October 13-14.

Mr Heil interviewed all four of The Prophets’ members, during the recent National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. The Gospel Greats’ Artist Spotlight segment included portions of the NQC interview, as well as two songs from The Prophets’ yet to be released CD, and an old Prophets cut from Heil’s LP archives. The old song he played was the original Prophets’ recording of a classic Lari Goss compositon entitled, “Love Like The Sun”. A new arrangement of this pop-gospel tune is included on the upcoming Prophets’ project. Paul very smartly used the old version as a musical preamble to the new version, playing the latter in it’s entirety.

“Love Like The Sun” is making it’s own history with the revived Prophets. It was the first song the comeback group sang before an audience (sogonews.com’s Fan Festival in July), and now it has become the first Prophets’ song played on National radio since 1973…the first time the new group has been heard “on air”…Wow!

Personally, it’s a great honor for me to sing Lari’s song anytime…but to get to sing it with two legends, and one of the world’s greatest bass singers…and have it premier on the number one SG Radio program of all time…well, what can I say? Thank you God for this fantastic musical blessing!

To top it all off, the other Prophets’ song featured on the broadcast, “I’ll Follow”, is one that I originated…then enlisted Johnny Minick to help me complete. Johnny brought a whole new direction to the song’s verses. When we composed it, we had a youth market in mind, but the rest of The Prophets loved it, so…we included it on the CD as a change of pace cut. Now it’s been “world-premiered” on The Gospel Greats with Paul Heil!

Sorry folks, but that deserves a Double WOW, from this ole Arkansas boy!
