THE PROPHETS QUARTET has been walking in “high cotton” with our association with an ermerging monster of the music industry, RIVER BEND MEDIA GROUP. This amazing company owns the record label (actually several labels) that will soon release the new CD of the “revived” PROPHETS and a re-release of more than a dozen “original” PROPHETS hits from yesteryear…If there was ever any doubt about River Bend’s seriousness as an aspiring player in the industry, all has been washed away in the floodtide of today’s astounding announcement that RBMG has signed music legend and incomparable producer/arranger/orchestrator Mr. LARI GOSS to an exclusive services contract. According to the story at sogospelnews.com, this modern musical “master” is now fully on board the ‘River Bend showboat”…AMAZING!
We already knew that some of the tunes on The Prophets’ upcoming release would feature some of Lari’s inspiring arrangements and orchestrations, as well as the unique arrangements of the talented team of Johnny & Aaron Minick and “award winning” Michael Sykes. Lari has also produced/arranged/orchestrated numerous songs of mine for great choral compilations published by Jack Price’s PRISM MUSIC…one of the worlds largest providers of quality choral music for the church. This is certainly not my first professional association with Lari, but something tells me that this IS a special day. I look forward to working with Lari and the whole RBMG team for years to come.
Very soon, I will write a more extensive article about Lari, my admiration for his incredible talent, my greater admiration for him using it in the Lord’s Vineyard, and my highly treasured personal relationship with this dear, gentle man that has quietly helped shape the sound of southern gospel music like few of his generation. Wow!…and NOW we create music for the same organization! What an honor for THE PROPHETS QUARTET…and yes, I feel pretty honored, and even more humbled myself.

You would probably know the answer to something I’ve been wondering. The instant I saw the press release earlier today, I couldn’t help but wonder what this meant for non-River Bend groups. Can Signature Sound and the Mark Trammell Trio not use him any more?

It is probably best that I not represent myself as an official spokesman for RBMG, since I’m not one…so don’t take what I say here as absolute, but…I am pretty sure you will continue to see Lari working with both RBMG talent and other artists as well…I believe that RBGM will “broker” his services to “other” companies and artists. You probably will see his client list only expand.
RBMG is currently building a major recording facility in Smyrna that will contain multiple studios and one of the largest, if not the very largest “room” for orchestral sessions. Their plan is to be the finest facility in the Nashville area…and that’s a mouthful…look for a couple of other big announcements from RIVER BEND MEDIA GROUP real soon.

Thanks for the explanation! I think I understand it now.
I was just disappointed at the prospect that some of my favorite groups–favorite in part because Lari’s arrangements fit their voices so well–could not work with him anymore. This arrangement sounds much better.

You’re welcome Daniel…and again, I think I’m right about what I told you. Whatever the arrangement is, I feel sure that Lari’s clients will continue to have the opportunity to utilize his incomparable gifts and experience.
RIVER BEND MEDIA intends to utilize Lari in fresh and exciting ways too.

What a coup for River Bend! Lari is simply incomparable — he’s the best. His work with various artists has blessed me for at least 30 years. Congratulations to Lari, to RBMG, and to The Prophets — can’t wait to hear what the Lord will do through them.
